OpenPlant Orthographics Manager Help

Annotations

Orthographics Manager has many options to customize the output drawing, which has many labels. Labels can be attached to the design items and used to display the attributes of them. In this chapter, you will see how to control the content, format, and appearance of the labels. You can define sets of rules for the labeling such as:

  • To what design item the labels will be applied?
  • What kind or what type of labels will be used?
  • How will they be applied?

If you define your own settings, they will be save to a project setting file. Orthographics Manager automatically generates the annotated drawings based on this project setting file very fast. This annotation process is executed by Orthographics Manager FSS Processor, which is equipped by intelligent reasoning and very high speed algorithm.

Internal vs External Annotation

Orthographics Manager has 2 types of the annotations based on the view frame in the drawing. One is the annotation that is placed inside the view, which is referred to as Internal (Inside) Annotation. The other is the annotation that is placed outside the view, which is called External (Outside) Annotation.

Outside Annotations

  • Tag Numbers
  • Equipment
  • Structure Columns

Inside Annotations

  • Tag Numbers
  • Instruments
  • Supports
  • Nozzles
  • Reducers
  • Valves
  • Others

Annotation Custom Attribute

By default Orthographics Manager uses the BusinessKey custom attribute to determine which property to display as annotation. If this attribute is not defined, it uses the "NAME" property. However, you can configure which property to display as the Tag Number. To do this add the following attribute:

OPOM_TAGNUMBER_PROPERTY

to the component class in the OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling schema in the project you are working in.

Note: Please note that OpenPlant Orthographics Manager ships OpenPlant schemas with its workspace. You may need to copy your OpenPlant Modeler schemas in the OpenPlant Orthographics Manager workspace/project in case you have custom components or changes that affect the OpenPlant Orthographics Manager output.

Next, set the "PROPERTY_NAME" of the custom attribute with the property name of the component class. This defines that property to be used when displaying annotation for that class of components. (See Below)
